I bet you weren’t expecting this so soon – thanks to RootzWiki developer birdman, the HTC One GSM variants are the first HTC devices to get their KitKat on. The ROM still comes with Android 4.3 binaries (we’ll have to wait for the Google Play Edition to get its KitKat update before we’ll see the 4.4 binaries), but everything aside from the IR blaster is already working.
If you own an International, AT&T or T-Mobile HTC One, you’ll want to flash the latest ClockWorkMod recovery specifically for your variant (“m7ul” for the International variant, “m7att” for the AT&T one or “m7tmo” for the T-Mobile one), otherwise you’ll get installation errors.
Though this is a stock AOSP build, you’ll need to flash Gapps separately – a link to a KitKat edition of Gapps is also included in the ROM threads. You’ll also lose root if you flash this, but you can regain it by flashing the latest SuperSU zip in recovery. Verizon and Sprint builds are being worked on.
As always, neither birdman, RootzWiki nor myself can be held responsible for any damage done to your phone when installing these builds. You flash them at your own risk.
